Key won't turn in the ignition?
A key that gets hard to turn, or stops turning, is a common sign of a worn or broken ignition lock. Patriot Auto Keys repairs ignitions at your vehicle, for $395 within 20 miles of Oklahoma City. We repair Honda, Acura, Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, Chevrolet and GMC ignitions.
Do I need a new key or an ignition repair?
On Honda, Ford and GM vehicles, it is often both. Many owners think the key is the problem, but the key and the parts inside the ignition wear down together. A new key by itself will not fix a worn ignition.
How much does ignition repair cost?
Ignition repair is $395 within 20 miles of Oklahoma City. Past 20 miles, travel is $3 per mile, up to 60 miles out.
That price covers normal wear. If the ignition is physically broken, or the vehicle needs factory software to finish the job, we will quote it before we start.
The dealer typically charges more than double.
On Honda, Acura, Ford and GM vehicles, the repair includes one basic transponder key, programmed to your vehicle. Volkswagen and Audi repairs do not need a new key.

Why won't my Honda or Acura key turn?
Honda ignitions are known for wearing out. The key gets hard to turn one day, and the problem gets worse over the next few days. It can also happen all at once.
Why won't my Volkswagen or Audi key turn?
On Volkswagen and Audi vehicles, a part breaks inside the ignition lock housing and the steering lock stays locked. The key will not turn and the steering wheel will not release.
We repair the ignition you have. Your key keeps working the way it always has. You do not need a new key or any programming, and the ignition stays matched to your doors.
Why is my Ford or GM key hard to turn?
Most newer Ford and GM trucks use a high-security key with a groove milled down the side or the middle of the blade, instead of the older standard double-sided key. The parts inside these ignitions wear out quickly. We replace the worn parts and cut a new key, because the key wears down along with them.
Where is the repair done, and how long does it take?
A technician comes to your vehicle. Plan on about two hours.
